For perhaps the most unique experience you will ever have in the tropics, you must book a stay at Cuffie River Nature Retreat and Eco-lodge. The lodge is located in Tobago at the rainforest's edge in the Runnymede Valley on the Cuffie River, surrounded by old-growth rainforests and bamboo gardens. The resort is an upscale retreat, but focuses primarily on the flora and fauna of the tropical rainforest through birdwatching and rainforest adventure excursions.

The lodge is ecologically friendly, blending in perfectly with its surroundings. There is plenty more do at the retreat than just bird watch. The resort still offers the amenities a guest would expect on a tropical vacation - kayaking, beach outings, sunset sailing, and snorkeling. There is also an above-ground pool (above ground so the soil didn't have to be excavated), fed by charcoal filtered rainwater instead of chlorine. It really is a very green resort.
